Hapisk

Hapisk is Hélène’s Icelandic interpretation of a Shetland hap and is part of the The Book of Haps co-edited by Kate Davies and Jen Arnall-Culliford. A hap is a Scottish dialect word for a simple shawl or wrap. Haps have a particular association with Shetland where for many decades they were knitted for everyday wear as well as for sale. The first part of the book explores the hap’s Shetland history, and in the second part, 13 renowned designers present their contemporary interpretations of a hap.

Hapisk is knitted with Hélène’s extra soft Icelandic lambswool lace, Gilitrutt Tvíband. The price of the KIT (17 skeins) represents a substantial discount (20%) compared to if you would buy the yarn on its own. The kit doesn’t includes the pattern which is only available as part of the book.
